Montana Cannabis Industry Association works on several fronts to establish and improve regulations for the medical marijuana program in Montana. Their work includes legal, political, and legislative approaches. Their goal is a safe, functional, responsible and accountable program that meets the needs of patients, communities, and providers.
Montana has its own unique history when it comes to the changes taking place with cannabis’ legal status in America. The MTCIA came to the forefront in spring of 2011 when Montana’s 2004 medical marijuana law passed by citizens’ initiative was repealed by the state legislature and replaced with an unworkable law meant to dismantle the program. Since then, the MTCIA has protected access through the courts. We currently aim to replace the 2011 law through a citizens’ initiative during the 2016 November election. The MTCIA is also developing a legislative agenda for the 2017 legislative session, continuing our commitment to a safe, functional, and accountable medical marijuana program for Montana.
