Solvents

A solvent is a liquid used to dissolve a substance to form a solution. In terms of cannabis extraction, it separates the psychoactive substances THC from the cannabis flower. Solvents such as CO2, butane, and ethanol help produce concentrates which are a mixture of waxes, oils, terpenoids, and cannabinoids.
Different types of solvents can affect the color, flavor, and reliability of the final product. Solvent-free extraction techniques use elements such as water or gravity to isolate the resin heads.
