Prop 64 (CA)

Prop 64 (CA) is a California state law, also known as the Adult Use of Marijuana Act, which legalized the use and cultivation of cannabis by adults over the age of 21 for recreational purposes. Although cannabis is still illegal at the federal level, California is one of a growing number of states that has allowed cannabis for recreational use.
This legislation specifies the conditions of usage, sale, production, and matters such as the establishment of excise and sales taxes. However, Proposal 64 authorizes local jurisdictions to allow on-site use in licensed cannabis businesses, once they are operational.
